Ichkitidze Gocha's Estate Wines LLC

Great wines start with great Terroirs: Ichkitidze Gocha's Estate Wines LLC vineyards are located in the unique Mukuzani microzone (Mukuzani village), which is located on the northeast slope of the Tsiv-Gombori Ridge.

The labor of people and nature turn the calcareous lands into blessed ones: on such a soil grows grapes worthy to create great wines. Stones and pebbles retain heat, so beloved by vineyards, and clay and limestone soil rich in calcium carbonate and iron gives the wine an ideal structure and particular depth of taste. The rare climate and soil in the Mukuzani microzone allows grapes to achieve a perfect balance of acidity and tannins. Vineyards cultivated by Ichkitidze Gocha's Estate Wines LLC have these qualities.

In the production of wine Ichkitidze Gocha's Estate Wines LLC practice modern and classical methods of winemaking. One of the best wines of the company Ichkitidze Gocha's Estate Wines LLC - Mukuzani Limited is created according to ancient technologies - Saperavi grapes are fermented in ten-ton vats by our partner GARBELLOTTO and the wine is aged in barriques from SEGUIN MOREAU. This approach gives the wine a powerful aroma and rich extractive taste. Mukuzani wine produced since 1892.

About grapes

Georgian wine making

Archaeological finds prove that grapes began to be cultivated in Georgia about 8000 years ago. It was here, according to most experts, that the first cultivated forms of the vine of VitisVinifera appeared, which later spread through Asia Minor to European countries, and - in the footsteps of brave navigators - further to the New World, Australia, etc. For centuries, winegrowing was one of the main directions of cultural farming in Georgia. Today the number of autochthonous grape varieties here reaches 500 items.

Kakheti is considered the main wine-growing region of Georgia, as there are about 65% of all vineyards and wineries here. This is a historical region of Georgia, located in the upper reaches of the Alazani and Iori rivers.

The most famous wine region of Kakheti - Alazani Valley - is located at an altitude of 200-500 meters above sea level and extends from the north-west to the south-east for 110 km. Its average width is 20 km. The climate is moderately humid, with moderately cold winters and hot summers. Soils are brown, gray-brown, black earth. For the most part, clarets are produced.
